Non-standard characters in Windows User Names Cause LinkWare PC Issues
Affects Versions: All versions of LinkWare PC
LinkWare PC does not support the use of “special” characters in Microsoft™ Windows™ user account names.
Specifically, the C:\Users\<UserName> folder may contain only the following characters:
- Alphabetic characters: A-Z and a-z
- Numbers: 0-9
- The space character (ASCII character decimal 032, Hex 020)
Folder names with other characters have caused “unhandled exception” errors on LinkWare PC startup.
The remedy is to change the C:\Users\<UserName> folder name so it contains only the characters LinkWare PC allows.
