Statement of Volatility for the SimpliFiber Pro
Fluke Networks has received several inquiries about the best method of removing all test results and setup information from a SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter. This is usually in the context of a consultant that moves from one customer network to another, or it is related to moving a SimpliFiber Pro back and forth between Government unclassified and classified networks.
In either case it is important that information about an area is wiped entirely from the SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter before the instrument leaves the area.
SimpliFiber Pro system architecture
The SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter includes a keypad controlled graphic user interface, USB interface and the test interface. The SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter runs a proprietary operating system. It is battery powered and stores the firmware, factory calibration data and serial numbers in flash memory located on the main circuit board. The USB port is used to download results to a PC using LinkWare Software. The SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter cannot be updated in the field and no information can be loaded into the SimpliFiber Pro power meter.
The SimpliFiber Pro is typically sold as part of a kit with a SimpliFiber Pro 850/1300 nm and or 1310/1550 nm source. The SimpliFiber Pro source is battery operated and stores no user information.
The SimpliFiber Pro optical power meter unit stores test results in a reserved portion of the flash memory located on the main board.
