Consolidation Point (CP)

A common question asked about CPs, is whether there is a minimum distance from the Floor Distributor (FD).

ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 (, 2009)
6.4.2 Consolidation point
NEXT loss performance using worst case components show margins that can be below the measurement accuracy for the permanent link. NEXT loss performance can be improved by ensuring at least a 5 m (16.4 ft) distance between the consolidation point and the telecommunications outlet connector.

In Annex J, the worst case model indicates a distance no less than 15 m between the distributor and the consolidation point. Since this Annex is informative, it is only advise. Please consult with the cabling vendor for their specific requirements.
