Industry’s First Category 8 Field Tester Reduces Cabling Certification Costs by Two-Thirds

Fluke Networks released new adapters for the Versiv DSX-8000 CableAnalyzer giving installers the ability to test and certify TERA and ARJ45 based systems compliant with ISO 11801 Category 8.2 . The adapters support testing and certification of Category 6A / Class EA systems, all Category 6A / Class EA backward compatible as well as Category 7/7A / Class F/FA and Category 8.2 / Class II systems to meet requirements of ISO/IEC 11801-1 and to verify performance levels meet the future needs of 25/40GBASE-T applications.

Siemon, one of the largest suppliers of TERA systems, has announced approval of the DSX-8000 for warranty testing requirements. “The Siemon Company has completed an extensive evaluation of the DSX-8000, and is pleased to announce the approval of the Fluke Networks DSX-8000 CableAnalyzer”, according to Brian Celella, Principal Electrical Engineer at The Siemon Company.   “High levels of accuracy were observed between a network analyzer laboratory measurement and the DSX-8000.”

Leoni, a leading European provider of cables and cable systems for datacenters and enterprises has also endorsed the DSX-8000. “The TERA interface is adding a second alternative for a Class-II interface for our MegaLine® Connect 100 offering, which covers the cabling standards from Class EA up to Class II to support 25 and 40GBASE-T in the data center”, said Walter Schreiber Product Line Manager at LEONI in Stolberg/Germany.  “Field tests of new installations with the DSX-8000 will confirm the solid performance margins in our MegaLine offering for NEXT and RL and all other relevant parameters all the way up to 2GHz and LEONI endorses the DSX-8000 for the certification of new installations”

In all, 18 cabling suppliers have endorsed the DSX-8000, and Intertek has independently verified the accuracy of the tester to TIA Level 2G for Category 8 installations.

“Installers report that the Versiv Cabling Certification System reduces their certification costs by up to 65% through faster testing, troubleshooting and reporting, along with fewer mistakes”, said Robert Luijten, Fluke Networks’ EMEA Field Marketing Manager. “The release of the TERA and ARJ45 adapters is another example of how the Versiv system is ready for the future and will keep pace with industry associations’ and manufacturers’ quickly evolving standards.”
