Analyze traffic for two Ethernet channels simultaneously using OptiView Protocol Expert v7.0.
Selecting two OptiView Link Analyzer's creates a resource group to capture and filter the combined traffic seen by both Link Analyzers.
Following are steps to view traffic from two OptiView Link Analyzers for simultaneous analysis.
In the Resource Browser:
- Click on the first Link Analyzer to highlight it
- Press and hold the <CTRL> key and then double click on the second Link Analyzer
An Aggregation window appears showing the status of both Link Analyzers. Always select the sync module when aggregating two Link Analyzers.
Note: FNET recommends users set/synchronize the Link Analyzers system clock using an NTP server. This ensures accurate timestamps between the interleaved packets captured from the two Link Analyzers.
To use an NTP Server, each Link Analyzer must be configured separately.
To configure the Link Analyzers to use a NTP Server select SNTP | SNTP Settings from the Host menu.
Aggregate Two Link Analyzers:
- Click on the first Link Analyzer in the Resource Browser
- Press and hold the <CTRL> key and then double click on the second Link Analyzer in the Resource Browser
- The two Link Analyzers selected appear in the Aggregation window.
Open the Detail View:
In Detail View
- Setup a capture filter to apply to both Link Analyzers
OR
- Press F10 to capture from both Link Analyzers simultaneously
Note: Capture is the only the only option when Link Analyzers are in Aggregated mode.
Monitor option is not available.
Save The Capture:
- Once the capture stops, press F9 to view the capture.
Individual captures files now are merged into one capture file.
- At the prompt, enter a file name for the merged results.
Capture View:
View the merged capture files in the Capture View window
A Resource column appears showing which Link Analyzer captured each frame.
