Government Solutions

As more and more public service agencies move to an e-government model, constituents demand the same high level of service they find with the most responsive commercial enterprises. Fluke Networks helps these agencies meet this exacting standard by giving network professionals in the public sector the vision they need to manage network performance, solve network problems, and launch new users, applications, and facilities.

Public Safety – The FBI, Department of Justice and over 100 local law enforcement organizations rely on Fluke Networks solutions to support the networks that support the first responders and investigators.    Our Performance Management products ensure that critical information-sharing networks are performing at their peak, reducing costs and downtime.  Portable Network tools make sure that wired and wireless networks are secure from internal threats.

Military
– Fluke Networks’ Portable Network Tools support network-centric warfighting efforts across every branch of the Department of Defense.   Quick to find problems, they are indispensible for setting up networks quickly in remote environments with a minimum of manpower.  Their ease of use and rapid learning curve allows personnel to solve problems instead of wading through complex screens of data or decodes.

Public Health
– Widely dispersed organizations such as the Veterans Administration Hospitals pose a challenge for network administrators.  By using OptiView and EtherScope portable network analyzers, local network staff can solve problems quickly and keep the network performing.  The Wireless Analysis Options are employed to make sure that authorized users get the service they need while making sure unauthorized access points are removed.   These portable analyzers can analyze traffic patterns to ensure that network is ready for new diagnostic equipment and applications such as Electronic Medical Records.  The VA also uses Up Time Select to gain visibility of network operations across entire Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs)

Networx
– U.S. Federal Government agencies can save millions of dollars annually by converting their existing telecommunications contracts to the General Service Administration’s blanket purchase agreement known as Networx.  Fluke Networks performance management solutions are included in this agreement. Agencies deploying Networx services can choose to install the Fluke Networks enterprise performance management components at no additional cost.  By enabling the capabilities later, agencies get an in-depth view of the performance of their network and applications, which often leads to not only further cost savings, but better-performing applications.

IPv6
– In their May 2009 Planning Guide / Roadmap Toward IPv6 Adoption within the US government, the Federal CIO Council  states, “In order for the Federal Government to realize the benefits offered by IPv6, it is important to begin the process of architecting and deploying IPv6 enabled network services.   Action is needed by the US Government in order to retain our nation’s technical and market leadership in the Internet sector and to expand and improve services for America’s citizens.” OptiView’s IPv6 package provides a suite of tools to help smooth deployment, including: assessment of where you network stands today; identifying IPv4 and IPv6 hosts and protocols on your network; devices using tunneling; validating that hosts, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems are IPv6 aware; and and identifying tunneling protocols and the devices using them. Learn more about IPv6 testing.

Security Agencies including the Department of Homeland Security, the CIA and the Department of State keep their networks secure with the help of Fluke Networks tools.  Monitoring for unauthorized devices or protocols can prevent unwanted access or security breaches.  Tracking traffic with NetFlow™ not only uncovers potential security issues, but also allows network performance optimization.  The unique OptiView Integrated Network Analyzer is an indispensible tool for security experts.  Its wide range of functionality allows it to address a multitude of troubleshooting tasks while its custom design (including a removable hard drive and proprietary network interface hardware) reduces its own vulnerability.
