Performance and Scalability
NetFlow Tracker has been designed to provide quality reports to the end user as quickly as possible. When operating on suitable hardware (see below), we have established recommendations to ensure the best possible performance.
Router and Switch Requirements Cisco, Juniper and Nortel - various NetFlow or IPFIX-enabled switches and routers, given appropriate hardware and software support. Cisco 6500 and 4500 series switches are capable of exporting NetFlow, given the appropriate hardware. Any device capable of exporting NetFlow or IPFIX. For the software to function properly with a device, the exports must contain correct ifIndex information and have otherwise well-formed NetFlow export packets.
Any device capable of exporting sFlow such as those from HP, Extreme, Foundary, Alcatel-Lucent and others.
Any device without inherent NetFlow or IPFIX capability may also be fully supported through the use of the nProbe NetFlow generator. NetFlow export versions 1, 5, 7 and 9 are supported, in addition to the emerging IPFIX standard (IP Flow Information eXport), sFlow, jFlow, cFlowd and NetStream (3Com).
