Think You Know Jack About Testing? Troubleshooting network drops at a New England Ivy League university.
Anyone who has ever sat idling away the minutes or hours in front of a computer waiting for the "Help Desk" or networking personnel to arrive knows the meaning and feels the frustration of the word "downtime." The answer for this university was to train students to become front-line troubleshooters. Armed with a simple too to test workstation outlets, jacks and patch cords to perform simple line tests, students avoided numerous headaches and saved many costly hours of networking staff time.
