Dubai World Trade Centre Case Study

Dubai World Trade Centre Ensures Wi-Fi Performance for Exhibitors by Hunting Rogue APs with Fluke Networks’ AirCheck Wi-Fi Tester

Challenge:
The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) is the region’s leading destination for exhibitions, conferences and events. To deliver key services to visitors and exhibitors, such as Internet access, the DWTC has deployed a complete Wi-Fi network. The network was moved to the 5Ghz band in order to remedy the issue of visitors deploying proprietary access points (APs), which interfered with the existing wireless infrastructure and subsequently affected the quality and performance. Although users were informed not to deploy technology on this band, there were still cases where they were deploying APs in the 5GHz band. To help prevent this problem, the IT staff needed a solution that could help them quickly identify rogue APs and enforce policy.

Results:
After receiving a demo of the AirCheck™ Wi-Fi Tester, the organization instantly ordered six for engineering team members. AirCheck allows them to quickly locate rogue APs, and is extremely easy to use and carry around the exhibition floor. The bottom line: before using the AirCheck tester, it was a challenge to enforce the Wi-Fi policies. This had an impact on the DWTC’s ability to deliver consistent Wi-Fi services to users. Now with the AirCheck, it takes between 5-15 minutes to identify and isolate a rogue AP, and the team can ensure the quality of their service to users.

UCCS Case Study

Fluke Networks’ AirCheck Wi-Fi Tester Simplifies Wireless Troubleshooting For University of Colorado

Challenge:
UCCS relies heavily on its wireless network, and in turn depends on a small team of students and staff to keep it all running. Yet troubleshooting daily Wi-Fi problems is difficult without the proper tools and training – all compounded by tight budgets and regular student helpdesk turnover. These challenges make network analysis much more of a guessing game, or require waiting until a team member with the right expertise is available. As a result, the IT department decided it needed a tool like Fluke Networks’ AirCheck Wi-Fi Tester, a tool that was durable and easy to use for troubleshooting in the field.

Results:
The University found the AirCheck tester’s push-button simplicity made it easy for even untrained students to use, yet the device’s detailed analysis made it possible to quickly diagnose problems and bring students and staff back on line.

Martinez Police Department

Challenge:
With electronic crime growing in popularity and sophistication, law enforcement agencies require the latest tools to stay one step ahead of criminals. Long gone are the days when all you need is an IP address to find a physical location, or a wire to trace a piece of equipment. Yet officers are required to handle this aspect of investigation every day, in harsh environments, and often with little training. The Police Department in Martinez, CA is no exception, and was looking for a compact, rugged, cost-effective and simple tool to use in the field – a tool like the AirCheck Wi-Fi Tester from Fluke Networks.

Results:
The Martinez PD found that the AirCheck tester met all of its requirements for a reliable and easy to use piece of field equipment, quickly becoming an indispensible tool for the investigation of electronic crime.
